Interesting idea! Of course in the long run we hope to wrest control from dictatorial county governments and dictatorial city governments as well, and there's that big ugly overarching entity looming out there, the one that ensures "liberty and justice for all" according to one ditty. But, knocking out the California state government would be a huge step in the right direction, and could get the ball rolling for future actions.

As much as I would love for this to happen, I don't see how it would be possible in terms of the state's relationship to the federal government, specifically state's rights under the 10th amendment. To my mind (and I admittedly haven't put a lot of thought into this), if the state government was nullified, California as a state would cease to exist, so counties and cities wouldn't be protected under the US Constitution (or the CA constitution for that matter). Theoretically, it's a great idea. Practically, it doesn't seem logistically possible. Would love to hear a constitutional scholar's perspective.
