Will Street Food Save Us All?

I've been talking about street food as a way to save the world for years - more from the standpoint of it being a relatively cheap and simple way for people to make a living. In parts of Asia, street vending is just considered an easy option for someone to take up for a while if they lose a job or if another business goes under. And the streets there are FILLED with vendors.
I hadn't really thought about this aspect of it, but it's very true: When there is genuine "street life", the streets are safer and they feel more a part of "home" than when everything is regulated into sterility. And sterility isn't safe.
