For me. It’s who can you trust. Sure there are lots of people unhappy and frightened by what’s happening. Seems like every good movement gets co-opted by either the left or the right. If not, the intel community will fill in the gap. Not to mention having your name on a list.

I'm making my own personal attempts to put together a bunch of people. So for sure it's not a 'movement' . I have long realized that the vast majority of people even if they are unhappy and frightened ( as you correctly pointed out) does not mean that they automatically have a good alternative.
Yes, it's a real fear, and it does seem to happen with regularity. That said, we can't let that fear paralyze us. We need to find ways to keep working with each other, even when there is risk - and of course there always is.
Experience has shown that a group of people working together, mutually assisting one another have a much better chance of survival than an isolated individual working alone. The problem is locating individuals who are willing to put the interests of the group ahead of selfish self-interest. A squad of Marines working together covering each others back is an example of this.
Not really (to your second part). It turns out that free people, pursuing their own ends, do a great job of working together and producing benefits for the group that they could not have produced as individuals. Adam Smith articulated this well, and others have expanded on the idea. I discussed this in a recent podcast: https://bretigne.substack.com/p/state-intervention-promotes-a-culture

I believe what you mentioned forms the basis of socialism , and some of us are painfully aware of what it leads to (The road to hell is paved with good intentions)
If one where to take a more nuanced approach you can keep your own self interest in mind AND you can simultaneously align with group goals. It does take some creativity and intelligence to follow that approach. Unfortunately I have found that most people are not capable of doing that, they either are very individualistic or they tend to sacrifice themselves for the larger good.

I found a great parallel economy on GAB where it is also a free speech site. It's awesome.
